Disclaimer and Limitations of REIRS Database
DisclaimerThe NRC Radiation Exposure and Information Reporting System (REIRS) contains records of radiation exposure monitoring submitted to the NRC by certain categories of licensees for the purposes of statistical analysis and regulatory oversight of occupational radiation exposure. These dose records are provided to organizations and individuals upon request when accompanied by a signed authorization by the monitored individual. Licensees are required to maintain the legal dose of record for monitored individuals. For any dose records that may conflict with licensee records, the licensee records take precedence. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to identify and submit corrections to any dose records in REIRS that are missing or in error. These reports should be submitted to the NRC Project Manager.
LimitationsREIRS contains annual radiation exposure monitoring records submitted to the NRC by certain categories of licensees under 10 CFR 20.2206. Prior to the revised Part 20 which took effect in 1994, licensees were required to submit monitoring records for individuals terminating employment. In addition, NRC Generic Letter 94-04 requested monitoring records for individuals who had never terminated and therefore had not been reported to REIRS prior to 1994. In summary, the limitations are as follows:
For any periods of time not covered by the records in REIRS, individuals must contact the monitoring licensee to obtain dose records.
