PDF-Portable Data Files

PDF files allow the user to view an image of a document in its original format. A reader is needed to view these PDF files. To download the free viewer, visit the Adobe site at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html. You must download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, install it, and configure your browser to use the reader for PDF file types. You need to use Adobe Acrobat Reader V5.0 or greater.

Clicking the link to the PDF file will display it in the Acrobat Reader within your browser. To save the document to your computer, click on the "Save a Copy" button (looks like a floppy disk) in the toolbar on the top left side. You may also save PDF files directly to your computer without viewing them by right-clicking on the link to the file and in Internet Explorer selecting "Save Target As..." from the pop-up menu. If using Netscape Navigator select "Save Link As..." from the pop-up menu. Downloaded PDF files may then be viewed using the Acrobat Reader application.

"Zip" Files

The REMIT and REIRView software installation programs that are available on this site for downloading have been "zipped" (archived) into one file to speed transmission and ease the download process. You need an "unzip" software application such as WinZip in order to extract the archived files. If you do not already have an unzip utility, here are some sites you can visit to obtain one.

  • WinZip - highly recommended. One of the best and handiest utilities for Windows. Get an evaluation copy, then buy it.
  • WiZ - Download free Windows unzip utility from this site. (from Info-Zip)
When you click on the download link or button, your web browser should recognize the zip file type and prompt you to either open the file or save it to disk. Choose to save the file to disk and specify the location. Depending on your browser configuration, it may instead open your unzip utility or directly prompt you to select a location to save the file. If your unzip utility is opened then use it to copy/save the zip file to your computer.
