REMIT
Please use the following instructions when downloading REMIT:
-
If you haven't done so already, please register as a REMIT user by sending
an e-mail with your name, company, and phone number to technical support. This will ensure
that you are notified of any future upgrades. This information is only
used for REMIT notifications and is not used for any other purpose or shared
with any other organization or company.
-
Click on the download button below to download the install program. Save
this file to a temporary directory, such as C:\TEMP.
If you already have a previous version of REMIT installed, you should
install version 5.1 into the same directory as your existing version
of REMIT, typically in the C:\REMIT directory. It will not overwrite or
affect your existing data. It is recommended, however, that you make a
backup copy of all the files in the C:\REMIT\DBFS directory prior to making
any modifications, such as installing the upgrade.
-
Unzip and run the executable program you downloaded in Step 2 (instal51.exe). It will
install the necessary files to the appropriate directories and create a shortcut on your desktop. Read the release notes for details on
the new version.
NOTE: You must have administrator priviledges
in order to install this software on a computer running Windows NT operating
system.
-
IF YOUR DATA FILES ARE KEPT IN A DIRECTORY OTHER THAN C:\REMIT\DBFS -
before you run REMIT 5.1, you must copy the file "site_ord.dbf" from the
database directory where you just installed REMIT 5.1 (typically C:\REMIT\DBFS)
into the database directories containing your data.
For example, if you installed REMIT 5.1 into the "C:\REMIT\" directory
and you keep your official database files on a shared network drive called "G:\REMItdATA\DBFS\",
then you will need to copy "site_ord.dbf" from "C:\REMIT\DBFS\site_ord.dbf" to "G:\REMItdATA\DBFS\site_ord.dbf".
If you have any questions, contact technical support for assistance.
This database file must be copied to each database file directory before
REMIT 5.1 will be able to access the database directory.
-
Run REMIT 5.1 from the Windows shortcut icon.
An abbreviated REMIT User Manual and full
REMIT User Manual (NUREG/CR-6050) are available. The full REMIT User Manual is a PDF file and is 8.6 Mbytes in size.
Note: The electronic version of the full Users
Manual will require formatting in order to make it look like the distributed
copy of NUREG/CR-6050. The document is in WordPerfect 5.1 format. The current
user manual describes the DOS version of REMIT and has not been updated
for the Windows version. The functionality of the REMIT system is nearly
identical to the DOS version, so the majority of the information in the
user manual is still valid. Future updates of the user manual are being
considered.
Requests for the REMIT source code should be submitted to the NRC Project Manager.
